Mission impossible in the high seas

A gripping account by the U.S. Air Force helicopter team from the Iceland Defence Force, stationed at Keflavík Naval Air Station. After braving snowstorms and gale-force winds to fly across Iceland and rescue six men from the wheelhouse roof of a wrecked ship, the helicopter crew ended their mission with a hair-raising emergency landing in a parking lot in the middle of a nearby fishing village. The recognition and awards garnered by the flight crews on the Vöðlavík rescue mission make it the most honoured aviation event in the 50-year history of the US Air Force.
