By the Dead Sea in Israel a young Palestinian boy receives a very unpleasant visitor. In a street in Oslo, a car bomb explodes.
National Crime Agency investigator, Skarphedin Olsen, suddenly finds himself in the midst of a case which also emcompasses an old man who goes missing in Oslo’s old town and an empty apartment with a congealed puddle of blood on the floor, along with some cryptic books about alchemy. The investigator seeks the help of his nephew, Frederic Drum, and we are drawn into a fascinating, fast paced criminal riddle.
