Martin Sølvfoss is at boarding school in Cambridge. On the last day of school before the summer holiday, Martin receives a message informing him that his father is missing after a sailing trip.
At the same time, strange things begin happening. Martin has visions, experiences time stopping, and when he returns home to Norway he receives a letter from his deceased grandfather with a message telling him that he has inherited a mysterious property in Telemark.
